How to store contact details in SIMS for Schoolcomms import

Parental contact information

  1. Within SIMS in the student’s SIMS record, the parent needs to be listed in SECTION 5‘Family/Home’.
  2. Open up the parental record by clicking on the parent and clicking Open. They must be listed with a priority number that matches your Schoolcomms import settings in SECTION 2.

Note: By default, Schoolcomms settings will import just priority 1 contacts. Your Schoolcomms import settings may also require Parental Responsibility to be ticked in SIMS SECTION 2.

  1. SECTION 3 – Telephones and Email Addresses

Parent mobile numbers need to be entered with the location ‘Mobile’ with main selected as YES. Email addresses need to be entered with either the location HOME or WORK with the mainselected as YES.

Staff contact information

  1. Schoolcomms imports staff contact details from the staff record in SIMS under ‘Personal Details’.
  2. Mobile numbers need entered with the location ‘Mobile’ with main selected as YES. Email addresses need to be entered with either the location HOME or WORK with the main selected as YES.

 

Student contact information

  1. The student contact details need to be entered in SECTION 4 ‘Telephones and Email Addresses’ on their SIMS record.
  2. Mobile numbers need entered with the location ‘Mobile’ with main selected as YES. Email addresses need to be entered with either the location HOME or WORK with the mainselected as YES.
